BLOG ROLL
fleet ilya
February 10th, 2012
Fleet Ilya is the skill child of one Russian born traditional saddle-maker, and one Saint Martins Graphic Design graduate from London.
From the harnesses and masks in the sexually playful signature collection ‘Restraint‘, to some incredibly sculptured/ easy to wear belts, hats and bags in rich leathers- there is something for everyone. Everyone with a pretty penny on two.
Working alongside some of the industry’s most respected names Fleet Ilya have more recently collaborated on a new limited edition piece for ‘Cabinet de Curiosities’ by Thomas Erber, an exhibition at Collette, and shot their latest ‘Restraint’ campaign with world-famous photographer Rankin.
Leather at its finest.

renee so
January 31st, 2012
Hong Kong born Renee So lives and works in London. Her second solo exhibition at The Kate MacGarry Gallery is a friendly combination of knitted portraits and bulbous sculptures, inspired by the German Bellarmine stone vessels of the 16th Century.
Originally used for storing ale or wine, Elizabethans came to use these as ‘witch bottles’–holding a boiled concoction of urine, fingernail and hair clippings with iron nails and pins– to protect oneself against witchcraft. Of course.
Renee So’s work in this exhibition recalls the history of this ceramicware with their gradual stylization and abstraction over time and their multi-purpose function. The vessels were soon mass-produced for the drinking English market by less skillful potters. The work shown plays lovingly with the progression of these vessels from practical to less naturalistic and more stylised.
The exhibition, just off London E2′s Redchurch Street, is on until Febuary 25th. And free.

little white lies
November 15th, 2011
Little White Lies is a bi-monthly, independent movie magazine that features cutting edge writing, illustration and photography to ‘get under the skin of cinema’. As cinema interacts with other pockets on culture, the mag also explores the worlds of music, art, politics and pop culture to inform and illuminate the main medium of focus.
Issue 37- The Drive Issue is a collector’s piece (that’s so long as you enjoyed the film) for no more than £4. With candid interviews from Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Ryan Gosling, as well as composer Cliff Martinez and ‘Drive’ author James Sallis, the story of the making of this cult classic is beautifully encased in the creative direction of Paul Willoughby.
