remed

April 24th, 2012

Remed is a french artist instantly recognizable for his brightly-colored large-scale murals and canvas works dotted around Spain. Originally taking his art to the streets by pasting stickers of his thoughts and ideas, his recent work sees him ‘make rhymes with colors, shapes and sounds to express emotion, feeling, or the evolution of thought’. Remed’s latest work uses coloured metals and engraved typography, with a nod to the advertisments that usually adorn the walls where his murals reside.

Febuary 2013 sees him take part in two collective shows in Madrid, one in the contemporary Art fair, Justmadrid, and the other in IAM Gallery.

whiskey vision

“The Bushmills” by Shwood and Bodega from Shwood Eyewear on Vimeo.

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Oregon based frame specialist Shwood has linked up with Boston’s Bodega and Bushmills Irish Whiskey for a special edition version of Shwood’s “Canby” frames.

Crafted using genuine White Oak from Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrels, the wood for the frames dates back more than 100 years. Limited to only 100 pieces and complete with a custom whiskey crate packaging and the necessary crowbar for prying it open, “The Bushmills” are a whiskey drinking spec collector’s dream.

Shwood’s in-house manufacturing process merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create something timeless. Every step from veneering and precision lens cutting, to shaping and finishing is conducted in their own Portland-based workshop to promise an entirely handcrafted piece of wooden eyewear. Wood manipulation is kept to a minimum in order to showcase the medium’s natural and unique splendor.

andre’s love letters

February 27th, 2012

Street artist André Saraiva’s first New York solo exhibition “Love Letters” opened at the downtown Half Gallery earlier this month.

The simple yet beautiful series of work includes paintings on french letter boxes and love notes on stationery, a somewhat anachronistic celebration of communication so closely tied to the romantic. “Love Letters” will be exhibited at half gallery until March 1st.

street etiquette for del toro

February 27th, 2012

Del Toro is a slipper brand with a story to tell. Three close friends at Boarding school dreamt of slipping into a velvet shoe and smoking cigars in the evenings after their lectures. Astonished to find that they would have to part with hundreds of dollars just live out their childhood foot fantasies, they sought out to make their own slipper at a fraction of the cost. Designed in the US and handmade in Italy with the finest of Italian fabrics, shoes range from plain canvas and velvet to embroidered and customised quilted leathers.

The most exciting offer comes in the form of the limited edition- only 35 pairs- Street Etiquette for Del Toro collaboration. With tapestry fabric procured from the Big Apple and made in Italy, each shoe is a one-of-a-kind.

If you cant part with $325 and you would like something just as, if not more authentic and comfortable, try Minnetonka’s El Paso in brown or tan. The Minnetonka classic is being updated for Autumn Winter 12 so shop quick before they run out.
